Basic Vegan Nutritional Concepts for Dental Patients

Teaching Methods Used: This course is conducted as an Online program
Commercial Co-Sponsor Support: There is NOT a commercial co-sponsor for this program

Course Description Content Summary:  Are you seeing an increase in patients who identify as a Vegan in their diets? Is this diet concept so foreign that you try to avoid Vegan patients? There is no need to fear, because this eating regimen is here to stay and really has a number of health benefits. This continuing dental education program will scan the basic Vegan nutritional concepts and their effect on dental and oral health. The program will review the digestion and metabolic concepts related to Vegan nutrition, and their application to dentistry and oral health. No need to construct Vegan nutrition plans for patients, this course will detail a number of these meal plans, for all types of dental patients on a Vegan diet. The program will display two patient types on a Vegan diet and the effect on their whole body and dental health to demonstrate how these diets work and interact with tissues. Two clinical cases will be presented to help the participant compare and contrast a Vegan diet to obtain optimum oral health.
