Course Description Content Summary:  Do your patients ask for an “Extreme Esthetic Makeover” of their anterior teeth and smile line positioning? If so, this course is for you. This continuing dental education program entails the detailed analysis of contemporary anterior tooth esthetics, which is required in cosmetic tooth fabrication for patients. The program will investigate and delineate the detailed cosmetic anatomical concepts that are needed to embed in anterior restorations. Color matching, enhancing esthetics in direct resin restorations, and identifying esthetic tooth structure nuances that are necessary to create lifelike and expressive anterior cosmetic restorations. Practitioners will be show models of various anterior esthetic patients to demonstrate how properly made cosmetic anterior restorations are constructed. Multiple clinical cases will be presented to help the participant compare and contrast proper and ultimate anterior esthetic treatment effectiveness. This course is conducted jointly with the Anesthesia Education and Safety Foundation, which provides the continuing education credit for the program.

Educational Course Objectives:

At the completion of this program, the participant will be able to:

·    Identify multiple anterior dental esthetic anatomical concepts required in cosmetic restorations.

·    Recognize and initiate management of pre-esthetic conditions that can lead to optimum results in anterior resin restorations.

·    Undertake a differential diagnosis exercise, using various patients in need of an enhancement of anterior dental esthetics.

·    Demonstrate effective communication regarding patient cosmetic treatment needs.

·    Explain why the foundation of successful esthetic restorations and optimum oral health is directly related to proper anterior cosmetic construction and management.

·    Recognize a patient who may have an anterior dental esthetic “shortcoming”

·    Discuss the circumstances when anterior esthetics may not successfully treated with composite resins and must be treated with full ceramic crowns.

·    Compare and contrast various treatment regimens and protocols anterior dental esthetics

·    Discuss the differential diagnosis of direct resins vs. full crown restorations

·    How to perform a thorough initial patient assessment and evaluation that can identify all types of anterior esthetic problems and issues
